"He said to them, 'But who do you say that I am?' Simon Peter answered and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' " - Matthew 16:15, 16 "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9 Those disciples who walked with the Lord Jesus witnessed the mighty signs and wonders He performed. The twelve who were closest to Him understood that He was sent from God, yet not all fully grasped that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God. It was Simon Peter who confessed this truth, and our Lord declared that such a confession did not come from flesh and blood, but was revealed to him by the Father in heaven. The question Jesus asked His disciples still confronts every soul today: “But who do you say that I am?” Unless we confess Him as Lord and Savior, there is no hope. As part of God’s saving work in us, we confess the Lord Jesus and believe that He is the Christ, our Savior who gave Himself for us, and whom God raised from the dead. He alone is the only Savior of the world. Praise the Lord!
