"Jesus answered him, 'Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.' " - John 13:38 "...Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?' " - John 21:15 Simon Peter was one of the closest disciples of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Simon Peter loved the Lord but our Lord knew Peter's weakness. Our Lord warned Peter that he would deny Him three times the night after our Lord's betrayal. Even though Peter did not want to admit he would deny the Lord, He did exactly as our Lord said He would. Peter was very sorrowful about His denial and he felt a feeling of separation from the Lord and was even willing back to go back to his old business of fishing. But our Lord restored Peter and He did that by asking Peter three times if he loved Him. Our Lord did not ask Peter if he loved Him to learn about Peter's love, He already knew that. It was for Peter's sake and to restore him He asked the question three time, since Peter also denied Him three times. Our Lord knows our relationship to Him and how much we love Him. Our trust and obedience to our Lord will show our love for Him. Let us grow in our walk with the Lord and love Him more each day. Praise the Lord!
