"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." - 2 Corinthians 5:2
Our Lord Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, but He became sin for us on the cross. He took the sin of the whole world upon Himself so we can stand justified before the Father. We are the righteousness of God in Christ because of the finished work of our Lord on the cross. Now those who believe in the Son of God, and put their trust in Him stand justified and righteous before God the Father.
