Dear Right Honourable Tony Blair I have contacted you previously about the situation in the Middle East, and how I had wished for Britain to take a greater role for peace in the Middle East. Things certainly have changed there within the past few months, of which I am sure many are glad. The Bible says that we should "pray for the peace of Jerusalem", and there seems to be a measure of peace there now. The reason why I am contacting you again, is about the peace agreement in Israel. I believe the "Roadmap for peace" plan, while its aims to acheive peace in the region are commendable, recent statements by Condeelezza Rice, and others are very worrying, particularly regarding the status of Jerusalem. You see, this situation was predicted in the Bible thousands of years ago. The Lord spoke the following through the prophet Zechariah, over 2500 years ago... Zec 12:2-3 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. Jerusalem is in the news almost every week. One third of all UN resolutions are regarding Israel. There is no more contentious issue in the world at the minute, and I believe the Prime Minister reflected that view when he said solving the problem in this area of the world would solve problems on the streets of Britain. The arabs demand East Jerusalem as their capital, and the Israelis will not give it up under any circumstances (due to the Temple Mount, and other Holy sites being there). While Israel has chosen to withdraw from the Gaza strip, most Palestinians will not be content with this. Even the PA Prime Minister stated that "without Jerusalem there will be no peace". Which brings me to my point. The Lord made a statement in Joel 3 about the land of Israel... Joel 3:1-2 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem (1948), I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there (by the sword) for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. The land of Israel belongs neither to the Jew nor the Palestinian. It belongs to God, and He allowed Israel to possess it. Condeleezza Rice stated recently that the Palestinian land should be contigous (joined up). This will mean dividing the land of Israel in half, and if the UN gets its way, Jerusalem too. God said he would judge all the nations that are involved in parting His land. The Bible even states in Daniel that this will be one of the Antichrist's chief policies during his short reign (Daniel 11:39). Please can the Prime Minister consider these things and do everything in his power to ensure Britain does not find itself on the wrong side of this issue. Thankyou very much Yours faithfully Chris Perver |
