| "The LORD has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death." - Psalm 118:18
"And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: 'My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; for whom the LORD loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.' " - Hebrews 12:5,6
The Lord our God has revealed His great love by giving His own life for us, dying in our place and redeeming us for Himself. We belong to Him. And because we are His, when we stray from His will, He does not abandon us. Instead, He lovingly and patiently chastens us, drawing our hearts back to Him. All who are in Christ are eternally secure. His discipline is not a sign of rejection but a demonstration of His steadfast love, a Father refusing to let His children drift back into the old, filthy ways of the flesh. By His correction, He keeps us near, shaping us to walk in holiness and truth. Praise God for His great love.
Praise the Lord!
