"And when they had come into the house, they saw they young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh." - Matthew 2:11 "And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of Myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds." - John 19:39 The wise men came from east after Jesus was born searching for the King of the Jews while following His star. When they found the Child they presented gifts consisting of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, representing the Kingship and priesthood of our Lord while also indicating His suffering to save the world. Myrrh was used as a spice to prepare the body in the Jewish custom those days. Our Lord, the King of the universe, came into the world to live the life of a servant and die the death of a criminal to save all those who believe in Him. Praise the Lord!
