An Egyptian cleric has called for Jerusalem to become the capital of a pan-Arab Caliphate. He made the comments during a presidential election campaign organized by the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice party.

Egypt was again plunged into political turmoil this month after the secular Egyptian army declared the Islamic-dominated interim government unconstitutional and called for fresh elections. Both Mohammed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood and former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq have claimed victory, but voting results are not expected to be published until Sunday. Shafiq has criticized the West for supporting the Muslim Brotherhood's election bid and warned of dire consequences should they gain control of the country. And if Egyptian Cleric Safwat Higazi's latest comments are anything to go by, made in the presence of Mohammed Mursi himself and thousands of his fanatical supporters, Western support of the so-called 'Arab Spring' will indeed fan the flames of conflict in the region.

Quote: “Our capital shall not be Cairo, Mecca, or Medina. It shall be Jerusalem, Allah willing. Our cry shall be: 'Millions of martyrs march towards Jerusalem! Millions of martyrs march towards Jerusalem!' The United States of the Arabs will be restored by this man (Mursi) and his supporters. The capital of the Caliphate – the capital of the United States of the Arabs – will be Jerusalem Allah willing.

It is of course very strange for a Muslim to call for Jerusalem to become the capital of an Islamic Caliphate. After all Jerusalem is not mentioned by name once in the Qur'an. And when the Muslim prays he faces Mecca, and specifically the Karbala, a great Islamic shrine that once housed all the idols worshipped by Muslims at the time of Mohammed. So why make Jerusalem the capital of an Islamic Caliphate? The answer is of course the Jews. The Hadith states concerning the coming day of resurrection for the Muslim, “The resurrection of the dead will not arrive until you will fight the Jews and kill them”. That is why Higazi calls for '”millions of martyrs” to march towards Jerusalem. Essentially their goal is to finish the job that Hitler started.

And this is what really lies behind the whole idea of the establishment of a 'Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital'. It is chilling to think that the nations of the world are actively supporting this. Of course they think they are doing it in the name of peace. But by calling for the division of God's land, they are supporting a Satanically-inspired plan that will ultimately bring about the period of time known as “Jacob's trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7), which will culminate in the battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16).

Satan has always sought to frustrate the plan of God to accomplish the redemption of mankind. He has tried on numerous occasions throughout history to destroy the Jews, the people through whom the promised Redeemer was to come (Micah 5:2). He has failed at every attempt. Satan has tried on numerous occasions to destroy the state of Israel, and so prevent the Redeemer from fulfilling God's promise to establish His Kingdom upon earth (Daniel 2:44). Once again he has not been successful. And now Satan is trying to wrest control of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount from the Jews in order to take control of the very place the promised Redeemer is to reign from (Psalm 48:2). Praise God that Satan has failed, is failing, and will continue to fail. For the Bible tells us what the outcome of this will be.

Jesus Christ is coming back soon. Have your sins been forgiven? Are you a Muslim? If so then know that the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the only one through whom our sins can be forgiven. He is the one who bore God's judgement for our sin when He died upon the cross (Isaiah 53:11). And through accepting His sacrifice for sin we can know true peace with God. Why don't you turn away from your sins, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation today.

Acts 13:38
Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
